Big C, Little C

Play and Design

This project was part of a collaborative experiment between Pratt Institute and Design School Kolding, Denmark. With a number of teams comprising one student from Pratt and one from DSKD, each team created an experiment involving play and design over six weeks. Play is understood as a fundamental human way of existence, a life practice, a way to be in the world, together with other people, to explore things and stuff. While playing, you get close to yourself, and to other people and you get a sense of life in a powerful way, zooming in on all the important details.

Thus, the goal of the collaboration: If Design can be a framework for experimentation, how can Play facilitate taking risks, promoting action and creating a place for reflection leading to new avenues of inquiry and knowledge? Experiments regarding the conditions of Vulnerability, Courage or Trust were also considered.
